Heather MacLeod is the founder of New Perspectives Counseling. Heather is experienced in working with adults and adolescents, and her areas of expertise include general mental health (such as stress management, depression, and anxiety), elder care, trauma (including EMDR therapy), anger management, communication skills, work issues, management consultation, leadership coaching, and critical incident stress management.
Heather completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and holds national certifications in Employee Assistance (CEAP) and Care Management (CCM). Heather also earned a Master of Science in Organization & Management from Capella University and has more than twenty years of management and leadership experience.

Rachel Hartman has served a variety of populations in her professional career, working with clients throughout the life span. She sees children as young as ten years old, teens, and adults of all ages. Her therapeutic skillset includes working with depression, anxiety, trauma (including EMDR therapy), and substance misuse, as well as serious mental health and behavioral challenges. Rachel looks forward to assisting the community’s residents succeed in accomplishing their goals.
Rachel is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Alabama. She earned a BA in Anthropology and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Alabama. Rachel has received additional training to become a Certified Dementia Care Specialist.

Chip Garrett is experienced in working with adults and adolescents, and his areas of expertise include substance abuse and recovery, marriage and family counseling, adolescent concerns, and general mental health.
Chip earned his Master of Arts in Community/Agency Counseling at the University of Alabama. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in Alabama and is certified by the Alabama Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association as a Substance Abuse Counselor at the international level. Chip is also a Department of Transportation Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (QSAP).

Harper is the New Perspectives’ CNO (Chief Napping Officer). She comes to work with her mom, Heather MacLeod.
Harper is ideal as a “client support specialist”. She is an expert in stress management, and her primary responsibilities at New Perspectives include snuggling and snoring. She excels in her role.
